The Invisible Man pursues Elisabeth Moss in new trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

We're now three weeks out from the theatrical release of THE INVISIBLE MAN, a new entry in the classic Universal franchise that's coming to us from Blumhouse Productions and writer/director Leigh Whannell. With the release so close, Universal has dropped a new trailer for the film online… and it really looks like this movie is going to be effectively creepy.

The new trailer is embedded above, and as long as the trailers and TV spots haven't already given away all the scares I think THE INVISIBLE MAN is going to be a fun one to watch with a crowd.

Elisabeth Moss stars in this "terrifying modern tale of obsession", which has the following synopsis:

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid).

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

The first film in the INVISIBLE franchise was released in 1933 and was based on an 1897 novel written by H.G. Wells. It was followed by THE INVISIBLE MAN RETURNS, THE INVISIBLE WOMAN, INVISIBLE AGENT, THE INVISIBLE MAN'S REVENGE, and ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE INVISIBLE MAN. An invisible character also made a cameo in ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. These films didn't follow returning characters, each one just featured someone who could become invisible.

A co-production of Goalpost Pictures Australia and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Nervous Tick, the new THE INVISIBLE MAN was produced by Kylie du Fresne and Jason Blum. Whannell, Beatriz Sequeira, Charles Layton, Rosemary Blight, Ben Grant, Couper Samuelson, and Jeanette Volturno served as executive producers.

THE INVISIBLE MAN is scheduled to reach theatres on February 28th.
