The Long Kiss Goodnight (Geena Davis): The Best Movie You Never Saw

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Christmas is coming, and nothing says yuletide cheer like a Shane Black flick. For this installment of "The Best Movie You Never Saw", we're taking a look at one of Black's highest-selling spec scripts of all-time, The Long Kiss Goodnight, which got turned into a stone-cold classic by director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) who re-teamed with his then-wife, Geena Davis, who plays a meek schoolteacher with amnesia who turns out to be a badass assassin. Samuel L. Jackson co-stars and has gone on record about how it's one of his favorite roles ever. So why wasn't The Long Kiss Goodnight a mega-hit? It has a lot to do, unfairly, with the film Davis/Harlin did just before, Cutthroat Island, but thankfully the film has picked up a major cult following in the years since. Join us as we take a look at this holiday classic.
