The Marvels, release date, delay, Haunted Mansion

Marvel is rethinking its schedule while shuffling some of its most anticipated films. On Thursday, Marvel said it may push back the release of several projects to 2024, including the upcoming Disney+ series, EchoAgatha: Coven of ChaosIronheart, and more. The delays have been confirmed with the news that The Marvels is moving from July 28, 2023, to November 10, 2023. In addition to a massive delay for The Marvels, Disney announced its Haunted Mansion reboot is moving from August 11, 2023, to July 28, 2023.

The anticipated follow-up to Marvel’s 2019 smash, Captain Marvel, finds Brie Larson reprising her role as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. In the new film, Carol won’t punch evil in the face alone. Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyona Parris), join her in the fight.

The Marvels focuses on Carol Danvers reclaiming her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taking revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must learn to work together to save the universe as ‘The Marvels.’

The Marvels is opening the weekend after the Warner Bros and Legendary sequel Dune: Part Two on November 3. Focus Features is bringing an untitled movie to theaters on November 10, with Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls 3 opening on November 3.

As for Disney’s Haunted Mansion, the spooky reboot is moving up to July 28 from August 11. The bone-chilling family film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Owen Wilson, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, LaKeith Stanfield, and Tiffany Haddish. The ghost-laden romp focuses on a single mom named Gabbie who hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to help exorcise their newly bought mansion; after discovering ghosts haunt it.
