The Matrix 4 adds Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It looks like THE MATRIX 4 will begin filming in San Francisco on February 5th, and a week out from the start of production it has been revealed that Priyanka Chopra Jonas is in final talks to join the cast of the sequel. Chopra Jonas has been earning screen acting credits for nearly twenty years and these days is probably best known for her role on the ABC series Quantico and for who she's married to in her private life.

No details on Chopra Jonas's character were shared, which is how it has been going for this movie's casting announcements. Variety notes that she will be working on THE MATRIX 4 and the Amazon series Citadel concurrently.

The cast of THE MATRIX 4 also includes returning stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith, along with franchise newcomers Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Eréndira Ibarra, Jonathan Groff, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Lambert Wilson has said that his character from THE MATRIX RELOADED and THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, data smuggler The Merovingian, is meant to be in the film but he might not be able to reprise the role due to scheduling issues.

Hugo Weaving has confirmed that he will not be back as Agent Smith.

While Lana and Lilly Wachowski wrote and directed all of the previous MATRIX films together, Lilly Wachowski doesn't appear to be involved with this one. Lana Wachowski is directing this one solo, working from a screenplay she has written with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

Lana Wachowski is also producing the film with Grant Hill.

THE MATRIX 4 is set to reach theatres on May 21, 2021, which happens to be the same date that another Keanu Reeves action film, JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4, is scheduled for release. Of course, one of these is going to end up moving.
