Searchlight Pictures gave The Ritual director David Bruckner’s new horror film The Night House a theatrical release last Friday, August 20th… and if you’ve been wondering whether or not you should head out to see it, maybe the clip embedded above will help you make your decision. In this clip, we see star Rebecca Hall being troubled by an interaction with someone on her cell phone. The clip is followed by the film’s trailer.

Scripted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times), the film sees Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong) taking on the role of a widow named Beth who is “reeling from shock over her husband’s sudden death in the pair’s lakeside home.”

After a series of disturbing dreams become increasingly real, Beth unearths a ghostly presence in her home that vanishes during the day. An ongoing investigation through the house (and their marriage) turns up strange secrets and a mystery she must solve.

The cast also includes Sarah Goldberg (Barry), Stacy Martin (All the Money in the World), Evan Jonigkeit (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Vondie Curtis-Hall (Chicago Hope). The Night House was produced by David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and John Zois.

Our own Chris Bumbray gave The Night House a 6/10 review after seeing the film as part of the Sundance Film Festival, and you can read his review at THIS LINK. Although I haven’t watched The Night House yet myself, I have been very interested in the movie because I was a big fan of Super Dark Times – you can read my review of that film HERE.

Interviews with Hall and Bruckner are embedded below.

In addition to The Ritual, Bruckner also directed segments of the anthology films The Signal, V/H/S, and Southbound. He is currently collaborating with Collins, Piotrowski, and producer Goyer on a reboot of Hellraiser.
