The Overnight trailer: supernatural horror film reaches theatres, VOD today

Vertical Entertainment has given the supernatural horror film The Overnight a theatrical, VOD, and Digital release today, and to help you decide whether or not you want to check this one out this weekend we have the film’s trailer embedded above.

The Overnight comes to us from two directors, Kevin Rhoades and Bobby Francavillo. This marks the feature directorial debut of Francavillo, while Rhoades has a couple decades of credits to look back on, including the 2010 thriller film My New Life. Mel Hagopian and Richard Harlost crafted the script for The Overnight, telling the following story:

A young couple find themselves at an outdated hotel after they become sidetracked on a planned romantic weekend. Soon they are caught up in murderous death loops and become bait for a murderous demon.

The film stars Brittany Clark (Indiscretion), Zebedee Row (Ghost in the Graveyard), Rajeev Varma (The Blue Rose), James Lorinz (Frankenhooker), Justin L. Wilson (Madam Secretary), Mathilde Dehaye (Castle Rock), and Richard Millen (Scenes from the Underground).

A Rock Road Media production, The Overnight was produced by Francavillo, with Mitchell Crain serving as executive producer. Harlost was associate producer with Sarah Jane Heckscher, while Hagopian was the line producer. Movies and Mania notes that the film was shot under the title The Stay in August of 2017.

I can’t say that the trailer for The Overnight has left me very impressed. My biggest take-away from watching it is that it seems one of the ghosts was a fan of The Shining before they ended up haunting this hotel and has decided to torment people by paraphrasing lines from the movie.
