The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the official poster for the 84th Academy Awards, and it’s about as thrilling as you’d expect.
For the trivia buffs, the eight images shown in the poster are from GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), CASABLANCE (1943), GIANT (1956), THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965), THE GODFATHER (1972), DRIVING MISS DAISY (1989), FORREST GUMP (1994) and GLADIATOR (2000). All of those films won Best Picture except GIANT, which came away with Best Director for George Stevens.
You’ll see this poster pop up in theaters sometime next month, along with a theatrical trailer that will likely be just as overly sentimental and boring.
