If you subscribe to the Shudder streaming service, you may have already seen writer/director Corinna Faith’s The Power, as the film has been available to watch on Shudder since April. But if you don’t have a Shudder membership, or if you do and you want to own a physical media copy of The Power, here’s some good news: RLJE Films will be releasing the film on VOD, Digital HD, and DVD on September 21st.

Starring Rose Williams (Reign), The Power has the following synopsis:

London, 1974. As Britain prepares for electrical blackouts to sweep across the country, trainee nurse Val arrives for her first day at the crumbling East London Royal Infirmary. With most of the patients and staff evacuated to another hospital, Val must work the night shift in the empty building. Within these walls lies a deadly secret, forcing Val to face her own traumatic past in order to confront the malevolent power that’s intent on destroying everything around her.

Williams is joined in the cast by Charlie Carrick (Abandoned: Angelique’s Isle), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Roadkill), Theo Barklem-Biggs (The Forgotten Battle), Emma Rigby (Endless Love), and newcomer Shakira Rahman.

The film was produced by Rob Watson and Matthew James Wilkinson, with Will Clarke, Lizzie Francke, Phil Hunt, Andy Mayson, Compton Ross, and Mike Runagall earning executive producer credits. Ross Williams was co-producer. Tom Harberd, Elliot Ross, and Fenella Ross were associate producers.

The DVD will include the following bonus features:

Commentary with Corrina Faith, Rose Williams, and cinematographer Laura Bellingham

Although I have a Shudder subscription that comes and goes (I keep it when there’s Joe Bob Briggs to watch, then let it lapse during the months between), I haven’t seen The Power yet myself. The trailer has me interested in checking it out, though. I looks like it could be quite creepy, and I like the ’70s setting.
