The Raid’s Iko Uwais to star in Wu Assassins martial arts drama series

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Awww yeah, bitches! Are you ready for some bone-snapping, throat punching martial-arts goodness? You are? Well then get ready, because Netflix has ordered a 10-episode martial arts drama entitled WU ASSASSINS starring Iko Uwais (THE RAID: REDEMPTION, THE RAID 2, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS).

Described as a crime drama set in San Francisco’s Chinatown.  Iko Uwaisstars as Kai Jin, an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Byron Mann will also star in the upcoming series as Uncle Six.

In addition to his starring role, Uwais will produce the new drama and act as the show's lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator. It's almost like Netflix has been listening to my prayers or something. Anyway, WU ASSASSINS will be written and executive produced by John Wirth (HELL ON WHEELS, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) with Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures Entertainment and Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures acting as executive producers as well. What's that? You want more? You haven't had enough? Well, allow me to sweeten the pot by telling you that Stephen Fung, a contributing director for two episodes of AMC's INTO THE BADLANDS, will helm the first two episodes of Uwais' new series. Boom!
