F. Javier Gutierrez’s RINGS has found its male lead. Alex Roe, who will soon be seen in the YA adaptation THE 5th WAVE, has been cast in the Paramount-produced franchise reboot, according to Deadline. Roe joins the previously announced Matilda Lutz in the film.

Roe will play Holt who is the boyfriend to Lutz’s character and becomes distant from her after watching the tape. Typical, as a curse usually doesn’t do wonders for a relationship.

RINGS is currently in pre-production in Atlanta, Georgia; the other day we brought you an early sneak peek of the villainous Samara. This film serves as a prequel to Gore Verbinski’s THE RING, which came out in 2002 (hard to believe).
