The Sorcerer Supreme makes an appearance in Japanese Thor: Ragnarok trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

We've known that Benedict Cumberbatch would be reprising his role of Doctor Strange in THOR: RAGNAROK for some time, but we haven't seen all that much of the Sorcerer Supreme in any of the marketing for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe flick, until now. We've seen a glimpse of the heroic duo sharing the screen thanks to the mid-credit sequence from DOCTOR STRANGE, in which Doctor Strange discussed Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Odin (Anthony Hopkins) with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), but now a Japanese trailer for THOR: RAGNAROK, which they refer to as MIGHTY THOR: BATTLE ROYALE, seems to continue that sequence and show off a little of Doctor Strange's involvement in the Taika Waititi film.

It's not much, and I can't imagine that Doctor Strange will have a huge role in THOR: RAGNAROK, but it will be nice to catch up with the character once again, before the events of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR cast a dark shadow over the Marvel universe. While we know that Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Hemsworth will have at least one scene together, Doctor Strange may be meeting Loki as well, as Tom Hiddleston shared Loki's thoughts on the good doctor earlier in the year.

I think he probably dismisses Strange, ya know? Yes, his sorcery is very impressive but Loki's been doing that for centuries, so who cares?

Sorry, Doctor Strange. You're not quite as impressive as you think to a God, no matter how many self-filling mugs of beer you produce.

The official synopsis for THOR: RAGNAROK:

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

THOR: RAGNAROK will hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
