Frank Miller has found his Spirit: Gabriel Macht. Yeah I uttered “Huh?” too…
Looking at Macht’s filmography, nothing really stands out: THE RECRUIT. BAD COMPANY, THE GOOD SHEPHERD… What might be his biggest role has yet to be seen, as he stars in WHITEOUT with Kate Beckinsale. (check out the Comic Con panel HERE.)
I don’t have a true affinity for THE SPIRIT but Macht looks alright for the role of the superhero who prefers snazzy suits and ties (apparently he knocked one out of the park when he auditioned for Miller). He’ll be up against Sam Motherf*ckin Jackson, who’s portraying The Spirit’s arch-nemesis, The Octopus.
Lionsgate production exec Mike Paseornek, who has a man-crush on Macht, said:
“We think Gabriel has a devilishly charming quality, and the dry wit that embodies the Spirit, and we wanted to do this with someone who can embody this character for the next few years, because we anticipate we’ll be making more than one Spirit movie.”
