The Strangers producer says more sequels are in the works

The Strangers producer Roy Lee has said that another Strangers sequel is in the works... or is it a trilogy of sequels? The Strangers producer Roy Lee has said that another Strangers sequel is in the works... or is it a trilogy of sequels?

A sequel to director Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers was announced soon after the film’s release in 2008… but for various reasons, we didn’t get that sequel, which was called The Strangers: Prey at Night, until 2018. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have heard from The Strangers producer Roy Lee that another sequel is in the works. In fact, the way Lee delivered this news makes it sound like we might be getting a trilogy of Strangers sequels that are being shot back-to-back-to-back!

When asked if there’s a chance we’ll see another Strangers, Lee said,

I think the next three are in production next month with another filmmaker that people will know.”

Given that The Strangers: Prey at Night didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, I have trouble believing that we’re getting a new trilogy of sequels all at once. I lean toward thinking that Lee may have misspoke and we’re only getting one movie, The Strangers 3. But that’s good enough for me for now. I’ll take it!

The Strangers had the following synopsis:

Kristen and James are expecting a relaxing weekend at a family vacation home, but their stay turns out to be anything but peaceful. First, a mysterious and dangerous woman arrives at the door while James is out on an errand. When he returns, he accidentally kills his friend Mike, mistaking him for an intruder. And then real danger does show up — in the form of three masked torturers, leaving Kristen and James struggling for survival.

Directed by Johannes Roberts, The Strangers: Prey at Night told the following story:

Mike and his wife Cindy take their son and daughter on a road trip that becomes their worst nightmare. The family members soon find themselves in a desperate fight for survival when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park that’s mysteriously deserted — until three masked psychopaths show up to satisfy their thirst for blood.

If The Strangers 3 is going into production next month (and possibly 4 and 5 as well), we should be hearing more details soon. I look forward to hearing who the filmmaker at the helm is, and what they have in store for us.
