Not since 2007’s AVPR: ALIENS VS. PREDATORS – REQUIEM have we seen any directorial work from Colin and Greg Strause. I guess they’ve been too busy bolstering their VFX team, having designed FX for the two current box office leaders, THE BOOK OF ELI, and of course, Jimmy Cam’s AVATAR. Nice work, boys!

So given their technical aplomb, we should be excited about a pair of new horror-ish films they currently have in pre-production, right? Right? Scoop it…

SKYLINE, the first of two flicks, just locked Kate Mara, Eric Balfour and Laz Alonzo to all play a part in a story which finds a group of friends awoken in the night by a mysterious light invading their home. Turns out some alien force is slowly swallowing the entire human race for some nefarious reason and a small band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world crumbles around them.

Swallowing the entire human race? Oh f*uck yes!

The second flick the Bros. Strause have in pre-prod. is something called MANGE, a dark action thriller about a brash, low rent thug who has one night to save his estranged brother from a deranged psychopath and take down the mob that betrayed him while enduring a mind-bending hallucinogenic trip.

Good God!. I can’t decide which premise I dig the most…probably MANGE, although in my experience on hallucinogens, everyone’s a f*ckin’ psychopath.

MANGE is written by Kirsten Elms (STASH, BANSHEE), SKYLINE by Joshua Cordes and Liam O’Donnell (OFFLINE).

Much more on both projects when we learn of it!

Mmmmm….Kate Mara!
