The Super Mario Galaxy Movie powers up with a gallery of gorgeous character posters

Last Updated on February 16, 2026

Wahoo! After an underwhelming Nintendo Direct earlier this month, Nintendo is hoping to turn some frowns upside down with a gallery of new character posters for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie! The upcoming animated sequel, releasing April 1, 2026, features a brand-new adventure, exciting new characters, wondrous locations, Easter eggs, and more.

Yoshi takes center stage

One of the franchise’s beloved characters, coming to Universal and Illumination’s animated universe, Yoshi, appears on one of the new posters, with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi riding atop his back. The poster depicts the trio running for their lives from a Tyrannosaurus Rex along a bridge made of bones. While Baby Mario and Baby Luigi look as if they’re having the time of their lives, Yoshi appears determined to whisk them away to safety before the T. Rex can swallow them whole.

Rosalina shines like the stars

Another new character to the animated Mario movies is Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson. Rosalina is the adoptive mother of the Lumas, a fictional species of star-like creatures, and also the watcher of the cosmos. Think of Rosalina as The Watcher from Marvel, but with a lot more personality and willingness to get her hands dirty. Rosalina’s poster features her character floating inside a library, her wand at the ready, while Lumas swirl around her.

The gang’s all here!

Other characters included in the new batch of posters feature Mario, who’s executing his spin attack while soaring above the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi, who’s losing control of a dirt bike while exploring a desert area. Princess Peach, who looks primed for adventure while standing alongside Toad, residents from Delfino Island, Star Bunnies, and Penguins. Bowser, who’s dual-wielding battle axes while navigating a crumbling bridge. And finally, Bowser Jr., who appears possessed by a magic paintbrush while hoping to rescue his father from incarceration.

The sequel will feature the return of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Two new notable characters of the Mario universe will be joining the new game adaptation — Bowser Jr. and Princess Rosalina. Brie Larson will voice Rosalina, and the sequel will have Uncut Gems and The Smashing Machine director, Benny Safdie, providing the voice of Bowser Jr. This is a curious pick, as the Safdie brother is getting more and more acting gigs, and this will be his first big brush with voice-acting.
