The teaser for The Europa Report hints that Sharlto Copley may be in for some crazy outer space shenanigans

I like my science fiction claustrophobic and unsettling. Give me movies like ALIEN, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, SUNSHINE or MOON and I will be a happy camper. That is the reason why I am greatly anticipating Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY and Sebastian Cordero’s THE EUROPA REPORT.

Starring Sharlto Copley, THE EUROPA REPORT looks like a beautifully shot movie. I am sure the imagery from this teaser is NASA footage, but any space video leaves me in awe. We only catch fleeting, found footage-esque images here, but they certainly whet the appetite for more.

Plot: A group of astronauts, handpicked from around the world, make the arduous journey to Jupiter’s frigid, glacial moon Europa in search of extraterrestrial life. The only thing more intimidating and unpredictable than the trip itself is what the team will encounter upon arrival…

Directed by Sebastian Cordero from a screenplay by Philip Gelatt (THE BLEEDING), THE EUROPA REPORT stars Copley, Michael Nyqvist, Daniel Wu, Christian Camargo, Karolina Wydra, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., and Anamaria Marinca.

Expect to hear more about the movie as we approach film festival season in 2013.
