Director Denis Villeneuve (PRISONERS, ENEMY) is known for taking his characters into some dark places, and it looks like that trend continues with SICARIO. To bring you up to speed, the story follows an idealistic FBI agent (Emily Blunt) who is enlisted by an elite government task force official to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past, the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive. Take a journey into darkness with the first trailer below.

The tone of this film (and Villeneuve's previous efforts for that matter) is like something out of True Detective. The acting, cinematography, story . . . it's all so on point here. I've also heard some really good things since the film premiered in Cannes. Given that Villeneuve is set to direct the BLADE RUNNER sequel, all eyes are going to be on this movie. Good thing it looks like it's going to deliver!

SICARIO will hit theaters on September 18, 2015.
