The Twin: Teresa Palmer film acquired by Shudder for streaming release

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Teresa Palmer is currently pregnant with her fourth child, but that's not going to stop her from reporting to the set of director Taneli Mustonen's horror film The Twin –  which deals with subject matter you might expect Palmer would want to stay far away from.

Written by Mustonen and Aleksi Hyvärinen, The Twin centers on

a family trying to rebuild their lives in the Scandinavian countryside, who soon realise that some secrets are so evil, they need to be buried twice.

Palmer's character is "a young mother plagued by the violent death of one of her twins". Yikes.

The Twin was financed and greenlit by Film Constellation, and the company is presenting the project to potential distributors at the European Film Market. The Shudder streaming service has already acquired the rights to release the film in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Hyvärinen is producing The Twin through Don Films. Joris van Wijk, Shudder's Emily Gotto, Film Constellation's Fabien Westerhoff, and Post Control Helsinki's Toni Valla serve as executive producers.

Hyvärinen said,

We're over the moon to have Teresa as our lead in The Twin. Genuinely deeply scary, it is also a harrowing and relatable tale of loss, which puts the viewer on the edge of their seat right from start to end."

The Twin will begin filming on March 18th.
