The Twin trailer: Teresa Palmer confronts malicious forces in Shudder film

The Shudder streaming service and RLJE Films have announced that they’re teaming up to give a “day and date” theatrical and streaming release to the Scandinavian horror film The Twin, starring Teresa Palmer (Lights Out). The Twin will be reaching theatres, VOD, and Digital in the US and Canada on May 6th, and on that same day the film will also be available to watch on Shudder in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Along with the release date and release strategy announcement comes the unveiling of the film’s trailer, which is embedded above, and the poster, which you can see at the bottom of this article.

The Twin marks the English-language debut of director Taneli Mustonen, who also wrote the screenplay with Aleksi Hyvärinen. Here’s the synopsis:

Following the aftermath of a tragic accident that claimed the life of one of their twins, Rachel and husband Anthony relocate to the other side of the world with their surviving son in the hopes of building a new life. What begins as a time of healing in the quiet Scandinavian countryside soon takes an ominous turn when Rachel begins to unravel the torturous truth about her son and confronts the malicious forces attempting to take a hold of him.

Palmer is joined in the cast by Steven Cree, who has also worked with her on the TV series A Discovery of Witches.

The Twin was produced by Don Films’ Aleksi Hyvärinen. Joris van Wijk, Shudder’s Emily Gotto, Film Constellation’s Fabien Westerhoff, and Post Control Helsinki’s Toni Valla serve as executive producers. The film is backed by Shudder, Playtime, Nordisk Film, the Finnish Film Foundation, Estonian Film Institute, and the Finnish television channel MTV3.

Mustonen’s previous credits include the 2016 horror film Lake Bodom.
