The Walking Dead: World Beyond: Season 2 premiere date revealed

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It looks like it's almost a wrap for The Walking Dead: World Beyond, with Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick introducing the Comic-Con @ Home panel with a reminder that this would be the final season of the short-lived Walking Dead spinoff. The series, which has been billed as a limited series since its premiere, returns on October 3rd, kicking off a ten-episode final run.

As in the seventh season of Fear the Walking Dead, a large part of whose run will coincide with World Beyond, the season is set to dig into the Civic Republic Military (CRM), who snatched Rick Grimes at the end of season nine of the flagship Walking Dead show. Don't expect to see Rick put in an appearance, though, with Walking Dead Universe chief content officer Scott M. Gimple shutting that rumor down immediately, saying there would be no Rick this season. Figures. I doubt they'd bring Rick back on the more modest World Beyond. If his planned movies don't work out, I'd wager he'll show up before the Walking Dead wraps up in 2022, or maybe even show up on the Norman Reedus/ Melissa McBride spinoff that premieres in 2023. Gimple did say that there's a tapestry being woven with each show ultimately a piece that serves the other pieces.

At any rate, they did give us a first look at what promises to be a dark and eventful final season for the show. The Walking Dead: World Beyond focuses on the first generation coming of age post-zombie apocalypse, with Aliyah Royale as Iris Bennett leading the ensemble cast.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond's second and final season premieres October 3rd on AMC, although the episodes will show up earlier on AMC+.
