About a week ago we happened upon an awesome site for John Carpenter’s THE WARD, his first flick in nearly a decade about a institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost (catch up on that shite HERE).
Well, looks like we’ve reeled in a sweet, albeit brief, new behind the scenes clip in which a poor girl begs, pleads and screams for her life. Why? ‘Cause some dude is about to impale the chick with a rather large syringe, the contents of which only God knows (we directed you to this clip back in the fall, but now we have our very own look!)
Written by Shawn and Michael Rasmussen (LONG DISTANCE, DARK FEED), THE WARD stars Amber Heard, Danielle Panabaker, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mamie Gummer, Mika Boorem, Jared Harris, Laura-Leigh, R.J. Hampton, Sydney Sweeney, Sean Cook, Jillian Kramer, Sali Sayler, Dan Anderson and Susanna Burney.
Here’s a more detailed synopsis:
Kristen (Heard), a beautiful but troubled young woman, finds herself bruised, cut, drugged, and held against her will in a remote ward of apsychiatric hospital . She is completely disoriented, with no idea why she was brought to this place and no memory of her life before being admitted. All she knows is that she isn’t safe.
The other patients in the ward, four equally disturbed young women, offer no answers, and Kristen quickly realizes things are not as they seem. The air is heavy with secrets, and at night, when the hospital is dark and foreboding, she hears strange and frightening sounds. It appears they are not alone.
One-by-one the other girls begin to disappear and Kristen must find a way out of this hellish place before she, too, becomes a victim. As she struggles to escape, she will uncover a truth far more dangerous and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.
Damn does this have potential or what?!? Let’s really cross our fingers in hopes Carpenter hasn’t slipped into an effete shadow of his former self, instead has what it takes to make at least one last great, bona fide horror master-work. Let’s go Johnny…we’re behind ya’!
