The White Lotus, season 2, Jennifer Coolidge, HBO

HBO was quick to renew The White Lotus for a second season last year, and production on the dark comedy from Mike White recently kicked off in Sicily, Italy. The studio has confirmed that Jennifer Coolidge will return for the second season of The White Lotus, the only cast member of the first season expected to do so.

Jennifer Coolidge played Tanya McQuoid in the first season of The White Lotus, one of the guests at the ritzy White Lotus resort in Hawaii who was trying to find herself again after the death of her mother. With a cast that included Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Murray Barlett, Steve Zahn, and more, it followed “the vacations of various hotel guests over the span of a week as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. But with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel’s cheerful employees and the idyllic locale itself.

Similar to the first season of the series, the second season of The White Lotus will follow the exploits of various guests and employees at an exclusive Italian resort over the span of a week. In addition to the return of Jennifer Coolidge, the new season of The White Lotus will also feature F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Meghann Fahy, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, and Leo Woodall. Coolidge’s performance in the first season earned her nominations for Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Critics’ Choice Awards. Mike White had originally intended for The White Lotus to be a limited-series, but once it became successful, he began entertaining the idea of transforming it into an anthology series.
