Breck Eisner’s THE CRAZIES infects theaters two weeks from Friday (Feb. 26th), so it’s only apt we spike your drink with a rotten new clip and TV spot for the joint, right?
And by rotten I mean fresh of course, and while the clip we have entitled “There’s Somebody Outside” isn’t as kinetic or ferocious as some of the others we’ve seen, it definitely demonstrates the more suspenseful elements of the picture.
The TV spot, by contrast, is back to the mile-a-minute, break neck pace we’ve come to expect in a 30 second sampling. This one’s labeled “Population,” giving us a shaky, hand held immediacy as we witness a dwindling populace in the wake of widespread infection. Watching the two clips in succession makes for a nice counterbalance, hopefully the entire film will employ that kind of rollercoaster affect.
Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Danielle Panabaker (the cutie seen below), Joe Anderson, Christie Lynn Smith, Bret Rickaby, Preston Bailey and Joe Reegan each star in the film.
Inspired by George A. Romero’s 1973 film of the same name, THE CRAZIES is put in motion:
As a toxin begins to turn the residents of Ogden Marsh, Iowa into violent psychopaths. Sheriff David Dutton (Olyphant) tries to make sense of the situation while he, his wife (Mitchell), and two other unaffected townspeople band together in a fight for survival.
Scott Kosar (THE MACHINIST) and Ray Wright (CASE 39, PULSE) adapt from Romero and Paul McCullough’s original screenplay.
