There can never be too many serial killer TV shows, especially ones on pay networks such as HBO and Showtime. Showtime has the continually popular DEXTER, and HBO has…. well, nothing in the serial killer department… until now.
According to Variety, Fox 21 is teaming up with hottie Charlize Theron and epic filmmaker David Fincher to bring MIND HUNTER to HBO, a new series chronicling a couple of FBI agents as they investigate nothing but… drumroll please… serial killers!
The show will be loosely based on the novel MIND HUNTERS: INSIDE THE FBI’S ELITE SERIAL CRIME UNIT by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. So let me get this straight, Theron is producing (check), as is the man who gave us SEVEN and ZODIAC (check), to be scipted out by DEXTER executive producer Scott Buck (check). Sounds like a flippin’ party to me!
I hope MIND HUNTER picks up speed quickly, and gives HBO the serial killing show it needs to stay competitive. Yeah, TRUE BLOOD has their vampire market cornered, but don’t under estimate the appeal of serial killers to fans! Stick around for more on MIND HUNTER as we hear it.
