Third season of You coming to Netflix in 2021

As expected, given the popularity of the show and the fact that a tax credit had already been secured for the production, Netflix has ordered a third season of the stalker thriller series You. The only disappointment here is that we're going to have to wait a full year to see the next season – it's set to premiere on the streaming service sometime in 2021.

Penn Badgley will be reprising the role of sociopath lead character Joe Goldberg, with season 2 cast member Victoria Pedretti returning as the most recent object of Joe's affection, Love Quinn.

You made its debut on Lifetime in September of 2018 and received an early season 2 renewal thanks to a tax incentive. People didn't tune in for the show when it was on Lifetime, though. Instead, it was discovered once the first season hit Netflix, and became a hit – 40 million members watched You in its first four weeks on the service.

The series is executive produced by Warner Horizon Scripted TV, Alloy Entertainment, Berlanti Productions, and showrunner Sera Gamble. Gamble has said that the idea for the show is that each season will follow Joe as he deals with

a new love obsession and a new world. Season one is Beck in New York, and season two is Love in L.A., and so we are evoking where we would like to go (in season three), which is to a much more suburban, insular world where Joe would be a complete fish out of water."

I have thoroughly enjoyed both seasons so far, so I'm looking forward to season 3.

The first season of You was inspired by the Caroline Kepnes novel You, which you can buy a copy of HERE. Season 2 is based on Kepnes's novel Hidden Bodies, which you can buy HERE.
