Thirst promo poster!

This is something to get psyched about. Nothing particularly new, mind you, but anything this potentially cool is worth being reminded about: Park Chan-Wook’s THIRST. Yes, the director of the brilliant VENGEANCE trilogy is directing a vampire movie, and I, for one, cannot f*cking wait.

Kung Fu Cult Cinema received a picture of the promo poster for the flick, which is currently filming (in Korea, I assume, but it’s not specified). Here’s the synopsis: Beloved and devoted priest from a small town volunteers for a medical experiment which fails and turns him into a vampire. Physical and psychological changes lead to his affair with a wife of his childhood friend who is repressed and tired of her mundane life. The one-time priest falls deeper in despair and depravity. As things turns for worse, he struggles to maintain what’s left of his humanity.

Right up Mr. Park’s alley, wouldn’t you say? If there’s anyone in cinema working today who would be adept at dealing with the psychological ramifications of being a vampire, it’s Park, whose specialty is tortured anti-heroes (as well as breathtaking visuals, compelling stories, and visceral violence).

And if you haven’t seen any of his films, shame on you. Go rent OLDBOY why doncha?!
