It was announced ages ago, and the premise seems slightly reminiscent of THE PROPHECY (with perhaps a dash of PREACHER), but the action-horror flick LEGION is finally rolling, and with a reasonably impressive cast.
The Screen Gems flick stars Paul Bettany as the archangel Michael, sent to Earth to prevent an apocalypse after God loses faith in humanity. A diverse collection of strangers is called upon to assist in finding a child who may be the biblical second coming.
The movie has also gathered Dennis Quaid, Kate Walsh (GREY’S ANATOMY/PRIVATE PRACTICE), Jon “I Was Married to Teri Hatcher” Tenney, Charles S. Dutton, Adrianne Palicki, THE O.C. teen cute Willa Holland, and Tremor Brother Kevin Durand (currently seen on LOST), along with a couple of formerly Fast and Furious fellows, Lucas Black and Tyrese Gibson.
Scott Stewart makes his directing debut on the project, but he comes from an FX background (with work on SIN CITY, GRINDHOUSE and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 and 3) so at least the practical and digital work should be the snaz.
