Although I was always a Marvel Comics guy, there were certain characters in that “universe” that I just never connected with… and THOR was one of them.
And yet the feature film version of the Thunder God just gets more and more interesting.
Kenneth Branagh is behind the camera for the big-god feature, with Chris Hemsworth as the titular hammer-swinger and Tom Hiddelston as his foster brother and archenemy Loki. Anthony Hopkins will be Asgardian king Odin, Natalie Portman is the lovely mortal love interest, and Sam Jackson will undoubtedly stop by for the obligatory Nick Fury appearance.
And now Thor has his comrades Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg, better known as the “Warriors Three”: Stuart Townsend picks up the sword he dropped in LOTR, Ray Stevenson returns to the Marvel Universe post-PUNISHER, and great Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano (ICHI THE KILLER, SURVIVE STYLE 5+) rounds out the trio. You can probably figure out who’s playing who.
Meanwhile, actress Jaimie Alexander (“Kyle XY”) is apparently playing Asgardian warrior woman Sif, according to the training updates on her own Twitter page.
