Three not-so-scary new stills from Daniel Barnz’s Beastly

Gotta call’em like I see’em!

A few new stills from Daniel Barnz’s romantic horror flick BEASTLY have just sped through the AITH ringer, and man, are they pretty unimpressive. I mean, when your most frightening image comes courtesy of Doogie Howser’s mustard collar, you know you’re behind the eight-ball. Of course, the shot of the tattoo faced leper tries…but tryin’ ain’t doin’!

Tethered to a July 30th release, BEASTLY is a modern-day take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.

Barnz adapted the screenplay from Alex Flinn’s novel, casting his sophomore feature effort with Neil Patrick Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Peter Kraus, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen, Dakota Johnson, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Gio Perez and Erik Knudson.

BEASTLY is rated PG-13 for language including crude comments, drug references and brief violence. Well there ya go, the explanation behind such innocuous photos. I realize this is a modern day retelling of a Disney classic, but hopefully the film will at least explore some darker territory than some of the photos and videos have demonstrated. Hopefully!
