For those who haven’t seen CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, there are some spoilers ahead. Anywho, when WINTER SOLDIER ended, Cap was bent on finding his childhood friend, Bucky Barnes (aka The Winter Soldier). It was a very EMPIRE STRIKES BACK ending, given the nature of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as Steve Rogers’ feelings for his frienemy. I think, without question, CAP 3 would follow up on that and it seems the directors of THE WINTER SOLDIER already have some ideas in mind.
Whether or not CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 would feature the character of The Winter Soldier, as well as the tone of the second film:
The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose, so it’s hard to get away from that nature. [We’ll be] bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier.
Sounds good to me! When the Russo borthers originally stated the political thriller aspects of THE WINTER SOLDIER, I was skeptical they could follow through, but they did just that. In case you need a reminder, the film hits home in about a month, and a gag reel has made its way online for our viewing pleasure.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER hits Blu-ray/DVD on September 9, 2014, while CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 is currently slated for a May 6, 2016 release.
