Timur Bekmambetov and Michael Bay to bring us aerial action with Heatseekers

JoBloJoBlo

I feel like I already have cinematic diabetes thinking of the cinematic candy that directors Timur Bekmambetov and Michael Bay could put together on the big screen. The two are teaming up, Bekmambetov as director and Bay as producer, for Bay’s long in development movie HEATSEEKERS.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story which will be based on a script from writer George Mahaffy that centers on an ex-military pilot who takes on a group of aerial pirates. It sounds kind of like TOP GUN meets FAST AND FURIOUS, which could be a lot of fun. Bekmambetov used his camera skills very well with car chases in WANTED, so I can only imagine what he would do with jets.

Michael Bay will produce through Platinum Dunes and the movie will be released by Paramount. No release date was mentioned.

I am firmly in the camp that loves pre-TRANSFORMERS Michael Bay. Give me THE ROCK, BAD BOYS or even ARMAGEDDON any day over the stuff he has released since. It almost feels that the movies he makes get dumber and dumber every year. PAIN AND GAIN looks like a welcome refresh for the director so I hope he somehow gets back to making his movies more about the fun and less about the CGI.
