The legendary Tony Todd is currently hard at work on his upcoming movie DARK CHRISTMAS (about as timely as it gets, no?), but had some time to talk to Dread Central about the future of a character we all know and love… CANDYMAN!
I’ve always been a fan of the CANDYMAN movies, and it seems like only a matter of time before a remake is in the works. Lucky for us though, nothing is happening on that front (at the moment), but what if it were to happen? Here’s how Todd would handle it: Maybe five years ago I would be worried about a Candyman remake, but I am just so busy now that I can’t really worry about it anymore. Now, if I was invited to be a part of it, then I would be honored. If someone felt like they wanted to go in a different direction without my input, then that’s okay too but I think I’d really be able to tap into the energy of what that character was more than anyone else.
You’re darn tootin’ they should ask Todd for his input! Hell, they should just recast him as the Candyman in the remake! But no worries, no remake is in the works, so this is all just hypothetical… but still good to know.
