There's been a lot of talk these past few years about a sequel to TOP GUN and despite the untimely death of Tony Scott, Tom Cruise and uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer have still been keen on shooting a sequel. Well, it looks like shit is about to get real, as Bruckheimer himself tweeted out the following, showing that there's SOME progress on TOP GUN 2.
Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2.
I'd like to think that if TOP GUN 2 wasn't going to be a thing, the above never would have made it to social media. Tom Cruise is tenacious, to say the least, and if he likes the direction that this is headed, I have no doubts that Maverick will make it back to the big screen. We already know that Iceman is on board, so the question now is who would pick up the directing reigns?
