Tom Hardy’s Venom has plans to web-swing into production this Fall

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Sony and Marvel are gearing up to start the production of their forthcoming Spider-Man spin-off film VENOM starring Tom Hardy as the symbiotic soldier. For reasons, the movie takes place away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in a world where Peter Parker may not exist. As ridiculous as that sounds, fans of the character are climbing the walls in anticipation of discovering how in the hell this movie is going to pan out.

Luckily, it was announced via the movie's official Twitter page that production is set to begin this Fall. While little is known about the film so far (other than that it's assembling one hell of a cast), recent reports suggest that the story of VENOM will be adapted from the comic book Venom: Lethal Protector. Written by David Michelinie with art by Mark Bagley, Ron Lim and Sam Delarosa, Venom: Lethal Protector tells a tale of an agreement made between Eddie Brock (Venom) and Spider-Man that has Brock being left to his own devices, provided that he vows to never commit another crime. Before long, and after moving to San Francisco, Venom is discovered by a group of super-powered mercenaries called The Jury, who're looking to take him out of commission.

While we're waiting for more official details about Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man spin-off, you can check out the above mentioned tweet below:

Directed by Rubin Fleischer, VENOM starring Tom Hardy, Jenny Slate, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed will arrive in theaters on October 5, 2018
