Toni Collette joins Anna Kendrick in sci-fi thriller Stowaway

One of the movies I can't help but look forward to is XYZ Films' upcoming sci-fi thriller STOWAWAY. Back in October, we passed along word that the movie is all set to star one of the most adorable and lovable actresses out there now (or ever), Anna Kendrick. The actress has mostly kept away from the horror genre – unless you count TWILIGHT as horror, and let's hope that you don't – and today we have word via Variety that she will be joined in the movie by none other than Toni Collette.

The second film from Joe Penna and Ryan Morrisson, the duo behind ARCTIC, revolves around 

A mission headed to Mars, where an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander and the ship’s biologist.

Collette will play the "commander" role mentioned in the synopsis above. 

For her roles in such horror classics as THE SIXTH SENSE and HEREDITARY, Collette has truly established herself as our genre's most prestige scream queen. And it doesn't look like she has any plans on slowing down as, along with STOWAWAY, she will next be seen in Netflix’s VELVET BUZZSAW with Jake Gyllenhaal and Renee Russo, as well as Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT with Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas.

Joe Penna directs STOWAWAY from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Ryan Morrisson, who also serves as executive producer. XYZ Films produces alongside Rise Pictures and Augenstein Filmproduktion, with XYZ and CAA Media Finance handling financing and sales. I'm was interested in this film when Kendrick was the only cast member, but add in Collette and I'm there! Let's hope the powers that be keep up the good work with the rest of the cast.
