Distributor Indie Rights announced that they will be giving writer/director Tucia Lyman's found footage thriller M.O.M. (MOTHERS OF MONSTERS) a limited theatrical release on Friday, March 13th, and along with this announcement came the trailer embedded above.

Starring Melinda Page Hamilton, Bailey Edwards, Ed Asner, Julian de la Celle, and Janet Ulrich Brooks, M.O.M. tells the following story:

A distraught mother (Hamilton) suspects her teenage son (Edwards) is plotting a school shooting, but when he slips through the cracks of the system, she is forced to take matters into her own hands. After installing an elaborate spy camera system in their home, Abbey captures a series of disturbing videos that confirm her worst fears.

Torn between a mother’s unconditional love and a mother’s acute intuition, Abbey caters her videos to all the other “mothers of monsters” online. Abbey’s plan backfires when Jacob uses a dark family secret against her, launching both mother and son on a terrifying, and ultimately deadly, game of cat and mouse.

M.O.M. is scheduled to have a weeklong run at the Arena Cinelounge in Los Angeles beginning March 13th. A nationwide Cable and Digital VOD rollout will follow.

I'm not big on found footage movies in general, but the story of this one seems intriguing and twisted enough that I might have to give it a chance.
