Trailer: Animated Mortal Kombat film is rated R for strong bloody violence

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Just last week, we heard that Warner Bros. Animation will be releasing the animated film MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE sometime in the first half of 2020. While the specific release date still hasn't been announced, the window has been narrowed down to spring 2020 – and a trailer has arrived online.

The folks over at IGN got the exclusive first look at this trailer, which you can see embedded above. It starts out with the glorious sight of a R rating stamp that says the film features "strong bloody violence throughout", then proceeds to show us glimpses of a whole bunch of fan favorite Mortal Kombat video game characters in action.

Directed by Ethan Spaulding and written by Jeremy Adams, MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE will show us what happens when

the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm battle to the death in a tournament that will determine the fate of Earth.

The vocal cast includes Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang, Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi, and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.

The movie looks pretty cool to me. If it looks good for you, get ready for MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital sometime in the next five months.
