Scorpion gets vengeance in red band trailer for new Mortal Kombat flick

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Warner Bros. Animation has unleashed a red band trailer for MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE, and it looks as if the feature-length animated movie based on the iconic Mortal Kombat video game franchise ain't holdin' nothin' back!

Spinning out of the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles – Mortal Kombat!

Much like the brutal and ultra-violent game franchise, MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE promises to deliver “extreme violence, bad language, and a bloody good time.” In other words, if you suffer from either hemophobia or phobophobia (an extreme to blood and violence, respectively) you might want to look away from today's trailer. Hmm, on second thought, perhaps I shouldn't have programmed the trailer to auto-play, what with all the blood-spurting and bone-snapping contained therein. Oh well, you only live once, right?

Starring as members of the animated film's voice cast are Patrick Seitz (RELINE, INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US) as Scorpion / Hanzo Hasashi, Joel McHale (COMMUNITY) as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, DEXTER) as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues (LADY BIRD, LIGHT AS A FEATHER) as Liu Kang, Steve Blum as Kuai-Lang / Sub-Zero (COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE, STAR WARS: REBELS), and David B. Mitchell (TEAM SONIC RACING, CAMP HALOHEAD) as Raiden.

Directed by Ethan Spaulding from a script penned by Jeremy Adams and Ed Boon, MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE should serve as a great way to tide MK fans over until director Simon McQuiod's MORTAL KOMBAT live-action reboot blasts onto the big screen on January 15, 2021.

MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION'S REVENGE will be available digitally beginning on April 12. Meanwhile, a physical release – in a 4K Ultra HD combo pack, Blu-ray combo pack, and DVD – is set to arrive on April 28.
