Trailer: Charlize Theron leads team of immortals in Netflix’s The Old Guard

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Director Gina Prince-Bythewood's film THE OLD GUARD is set to reach the Netflix streaming service on July 10th, and today the trailer for the film has arrived online. The trailer is embedded above, and judging by this THE OLD GUARD looks to be a really cool action flick.

Written by Greg Rucka, who also created (with artist Leandro Fernandez) the graphic novel series the film is based on, THE OLD GUARD stars Charlize Theron as Andy,

leader of a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die who have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (Kiki Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.

Theron and Layne are joined in the cast by Matthias Schoenaerts as a French soldier who fought alongside Napoleon, and Luca Marinelli and Marwan Kenzari as former enemies who fought against each other in the Crusades and are now in a relationship. Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the cast as a CIA operative who has figured out the immortals' identities, and Harry Melling as a pharma executive who wants to capture the immortals and experiment on them.

I'm looking forward to checking out THE OLD GUARD, and the trailer has me wishing that its Netflix premiere wasn't still a month and a half away.
