Here is the trailer for David Fincher’s GONE GIRL, based on the hit book by Gillian Flynn and starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Those of us who have read the book know one of the story’s primary joys is that nothing is what it seems. Now that rule extends to this trailer, which only hints at central mystery without giving much at all away. Does the movie fall into our wheelhouse? Well, considering it’s Fincher and there is murder, suspense and at least one very diabolical character involved, we’ll run with it for the time being.

Here’s the synopsis, which is just the tip of the iceberg:

On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

Below the trailer you’ll find the first teaser poster for the film as well.

Also starring Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris, GONE GIRL opens October 3rd.
