Trailer for NBC’s Rosemary’s Baby starring Zoe Saldana and Jason Isaacs

Roman Polanski‘s classic horror film ROSEMARY’S BABY is getting the mini-series treatment from NBC, something I was skeptical about from the get go. But, then they cast Zoe Saldana in the lead role previously played by Mia Farrow and I was intrigued. Once Jason Isaacs joined, I was sold. Now, a full trailer for the upcoming event series has been revealed and it looks pretty good.

Shifting the story from New York City to Paris, ROSEMARY’S BABY looks like it hits all the same beats as the 1968 film with some little changes here and there. No longer does Rosemary’s husband Guy appear to be an actor and the elderly neighbors now look to be much younger. But, we still get Rosemary getting her trademark pixie haircut and the psychological tension looks intact.

Based on the 1967 best-selling suspense novel by Ira Levin, this new adaptation of ROSEMARY’S BABY centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind. After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse – an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Agnieszka Holland (THE WIRE, EUROPA EUROPA), ROSEMARY’S BABY is a return to the big network mini-series we haven’t seen in recent years. Saldana looks pretty damn good in this which should just add to her burgeoning resume that includes STAR TREK, AVATAR, and this summer’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

ROSEMARY’S BABY premieres on NBC on May 11th.
