Here’s the trailer for Rod Lurie’s long-delayed STRAW DOGS remake. First thing I think while watching it is that it seems to have been just as inspired by the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake than it has Sam Peckinpah’s STRAW DOGS. That’s not to say that it doesn’t look like it’s a clone of the original, because it sure as hell does… Certainly one of those remakes where you wonder what exactly the point is… (Other than simply to make money, of course.)
The plot:
David and Amy Sumner, a Hollywood screenwriter and his actress wife, return to her small hometown in the deep South to prepare the family home for sale after her father’s death. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, including Amy’s ex-boyfriend Charlie, leading to a violent confrontation.
Rod Lurie’s STRAW DOGS stars James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgård, Walton Goggins, Drew Powell and James Woods. It comes out on SEPTEMBER 16th.
