Back in July of 2016, we heard that Jesse Metcalfe had signed on to star in a thriller titled THE NINTH PASSENGER for director Ian Pfaff and IT FOLLOWS executive producer Corey Large. That film has since been completed, and recently had its world market premiere screening at the American Film Market, which is currently being held in Santa Monica, California.
Written by Large and Steve Albert, the film followsÂ
a group of college students on a spontaneous midnight sea voyage that turns horrific when they drift to a dark island and are hunted by a mysterious ninth passenger.
Metcalfe's co-stars include Alexia Fast, Tom Maden, Veronica Dunne, Sabina Gadecki, David Hennessey, Cinta Laura Kiehl, Timothy V. Murphy, and Large.
At the time, it wasn't clear what sort of horror the yacht passengers would be dealing with. The film's trailer keeps that mystery intact, but it looks like the characters will be dealing with some kind of monster or slasher… Actually, the set-up makes me think of the 1982 slasher HUMONGOUS.
We'll have to wait a while longer before we find out for sure what THE NINTH PASSENGER is, but hopefully it won't be too much longer. With the film screening for potential buyers, we should be hearing some distribution news soon.
