The Exorcism of Clarita Roderick Cabrido

Back in 1953, an imprisoned teenager named Clarita Villanueva began exhibiting bizarre behavior and claiming that she was being bitten by two invisible demonic creatures. Authority figures said they even saw the bites appearing on her body. Doctors were brought in from around the world to examine her, but nothing helped the situation until a minister stepped up to perform a three day exorcism.

That true story served as the inspiration for director Roderick Cabrido's film THE EXORCISM OF CLARITA, which screened at a handful of theatres in the United States last month and is now heading toward an On Demand / Digital release this fall.

Written by Cenon Paolmares, the film has the following synopsis:

1953 – A group of doctors are killed by supernatural forces linked to a possessed woman named Clarita. The Catholic Church sends Fathers Salvador and Benedicto who are tasked to perform an exorcism. Meanwhile, a photojournalist investigates the truth about Clarita's possession and helps the two priests perform the exorcism. Their journey to help Clarita shakes their faith as they face demonic encounters.

THE EXORCISM OF CLARITA was made in the Philippines, where the real life events took place in the '50s. The film stars Jodi Sta.Maria, Ricky Davao, Alyssa Muhlach, and Arron Villaflor.
