This Halloween, cartoonist Charles Addams' famous creation THE ADDAMS FAMILY will be returning to the big screen in a new feature film – this one brought to life through computer generated animation.

Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan from a screenplay by Matt Lieberman, Jodi Picoult, and Sue Costello, this take on THE ADDAMS FAMILY tells a story in which the family's

lives begin to unravel when they face-off against a crafty reality-TV host while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration, Addams-style.

Morticia, devilishly devoted to her husband and children, is the pale glue that holds her clan together. Gomez, debonair, sinister and passionately in love with his wife, is enthusiastic about whatever dreadful scheme he’s cooked up. Wednesday is a brilliant and sinister teenage girl with long braids and deadpan wit. Pugsley, a menacing 10-year-old on over-drive, enjoys getting into any kind of dreadful mischief he can find. Mad Uncle Fester is good-natured, merry and likes to create mayhem any way he can. Grandmama is smitten with her grandchildren who enjoy her cookies shaped like bats and skulls. Margaux Needler, the reality TV makeover queen, is consumed with a desire for absolute suburban, pastel perfection.

The voice cast includes Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams, Charlize Theron as Morticia Addams, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, Allison Janney as Margaux Needler, Elsie Fisher as Margaux’s daughter Parker Needler, and Aimee Garcia as Denise.

Vernon produced the film with Gail Berman and Alex Schwartz. Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi, and Joe Earley serve as executive producers, with Tabitha Shick overseeing the project for MGM.

The newly released trailer for THE ADDAMS FAMILY can be seen below, offering a preview of the shenanigans the family is getting up to this time.

I was raised on reruns of The Addams Family TV show as well as the live action feature films that were released in the '90s, so I'm all for seeing new stories about these characters.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY reaches theatres on October 11th.
