The Purge

THE PURGE franchise prequel THE FIRST PURGE is still in theatres, but marketing is already in full swing for the television series expansion of the series – a show that is just over a month away from its premiere date.

Scripted and executive produced by PURGE creator James DeMonaco, the TV version of The Purge is a 10 episode event that

revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

Coming to us from Blumhouse Television and Universal Cable Productions, The Purge is executive produced by DeMonaco, Jason Blum, premiere episode director Anthony Hemingway, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Sebastien K. Lemercier, and showrunner Thomas Kelly.

The show's cast includes Gabriel Chavarria, Lili Simmons, Sabrina Gennarino, Jessica Garza, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, Hannah Anderson, Lee Tergesen, William Baldwin, and Fiona Dourif.

The premiere episode will be simulcast on USA Network and Syfy on Tuesday, September 4th, and to help us get prepared for this year's second serving of Purge mayhem, a new trailer has been released and can be seen below.

I think it's really cool that DeMonaco is continuing to expand the scope of the concept he came up with, so I will be tuning in for The Purge for sure.
