The tiny town of Perfection, Nevada has found a new home. It sounds weird to say that a town has moved, but the little place we first saw in the 1990 classic TREMORS has been reconstructed in a few different locations over the course of the franchise. For the first movie the town was built in Lone Pine, California. Since then Perfection locations have included Valencia, California; Acton, California; Rosarito in Baja California, Mexico; and, for the upcoming TREMORS 6, the Western Cape province of South Africa.

Now being added to the list is Albuquerque, New Mexico. That's where the pilot for a new Syfy Tremors series starring Kevin Bacon is scheduled to start filming at the end of October, with production lasting through November.

Bacon reprises the role of his TREMORS character Valentine McKee for the pilot, which is being directed by SPLICE's Vincenzo Natali. The story picks up in Perfection

25 years after Valentine McKee defeated the Graboids, and the man who once seemed destined for greatness is anything but. He’s a small-town hero whose glory days faded away with the monsters he braved and whose family moved on when he couldn’t let go of the past.

And yet McKee’s hoping that everything’s about to change. His grown daughter coming to visit on the heels of her graduation could signal a permanent homecoming. But no sooner than she arrives, strange and terrifying events make it clear the town is in danger.

Led by McKee, the gang from Perfection begins to uncover the spine-chilling truth of what’s hunting them. With the future looking darker than ever, these small-town heroes must shake off the dust of years to see what they’re made of.

Joining Bacon in the cast are Emily Tremaine as Val's daughter Emily; Megan Ketch as returning character Mindy Sterngood, now a doctor who is also "an unanticipated threat"; Shiloh Fernandez as Nico Garza, who works in Earl's Graboid Waste Gobbling company; and Toks Olagundoye as Jessica Florence, a city-chic civil engineer who has come to Perfection with plans to expand the access road.

The pilot for what is expected to be a mini-series with 8 to 10 episodes was written by Andrew Miller, who is also serving as showrunner and executive producing with David Schiff, Jessica Rhoades, Butch Kaplan, and Bacon.

The production of the pilot is expected to employ around 230 New Mexico crew members and 300 background talent… Why does a show set in a town with a dozen or so residents need 300 people in the background? We'll have to wait and see.
