For movie geeks like you and I, there are few experiences as enjoyable and near-religious as watching a great movie with a hugely enthusiastic crowd. It’s wonderful when viewing the film for the first time, but it may be simply stupendous when it’s a movie you know and love, seeing it with an audience of like-minded fanatics (as much as I loathe the film and don’t understand its following, those midnight ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW screenings really do seem like a blast for the devoted).
Which brings me to this particular phenomenon I was not wholly aware of: apparently, TROLL 2 is the next – hell, even the current – ROCKY HORROR. Those who know the movie will smile with recognition. Those who’ve never seen the thing will wonder why anyone should care. The simple fact of the matter is that a fan of bad movies – like, bad, bad movies – hasn’t truly lived until they’ve witnessed the creation that is TROLL 2. Yeah, it’s really that f’n bizarre (for starters, it doesn’t feature a single troll).
Anyway, the fanbase has grown to such an amount that a documentary chronicling the unlikely reverence for the film was made. Not only that, but it was made by one of the film’s main actors, Michael Stephenson, who played young Joshua (memorably offered a most unpleasant dessert at the movie’s conclusion).
