Any recent frequenter of this site knows I’m tipping Stanley Tucci off for no less than an Oscar nom for his role in Peter Jackson’s THE LOVELY BONES. And let me reiterate, I haven’t even seen the flick in its entirety. He’s that good. Tucci’s always been a fine actor, but the way he seamlessly slides into the shoes of wily, perverted, pedophilic murderer is pretty f*ckin’ staggering here (these aren’t spoilers by the way).

And that’s why we’re bringing the following clip to you all. Listen to Tucci speak about his role, the challenges of it, how he almost skirted the entire thing to begin with, what intrigued him most about the part, etc. Also check Jackson, co-producer/screenwriter Philippa Boyens and co-star Michael Imperioli gush about Tucci’s performance, the subtle internalization the actor used to plumb the depths of his character.

Of course, there’s also some new footage from the film peppered throughout the clip, including Tucci’s character George Harvey and his elaborate criminal schemes.

THE LOVELY BONES opened in select cities today (Dec. 11) and will go wide on Jan. 15, 2010.

Peep the clip to see some top-shelf acting!
