Twilight sequel happening!

I think we’ve all been surprised by the major buzz TWILIGHT has steadily been generating, but this is going too far. For a movie that looks like a CW pilot to have this much hype surrounding it is truly mind-boggling, and the shocks keep on coming… Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that work has already begun on a sequel. Okay, that’s not too surprising, since there are many books in the series, but wait’ll you read some of these stats. If they’re accurate, color me emo!

When your soundtrack isn’t even completed much less released (not until November 4th), yet it’s already in the Top 5 Best-Selling Albums on Amazon based on pre-sales alone, you know you have a hit. When Borders makes an exclusive calendar and sells out the first printing in a matter of days, you know you have a hit. And when the new trailer to your movie surpasses 3.5 million views less than 48 hours after its online debut, you know you have a hit.

Another interesting tidbit: …the new Twilight trailer played with Quarantine this weekend and as soon as the title came up, a chorus of high-pitched screams of joy emanated from the women in the audience in one Southern California theater.

Has the world gone crazy? I know we try to remain objective before seeing a movie (well, usually… kinda…) but seriously? What kind of opening weekend are we talking about here? Don’t tell me 50+. You tell me $50+ and I call you a madman. $60+? What? Are you kidding?! It can’t be possible…. Can it?
